FASTING FOR LIFE

Fasting
            Years ago I learned about the benefits of changing my diet, nutrient / mineral intake and increasing anti-oxidants to affect my moods, overall health and stamina. It takes personal discipline to fast. The longer the fasting period, the more commitment is required. Initially I adapted these methods from various entities to create a non-religious fast centered in balancing the mind. I have felt a strong and usable sense of comfort, self-control and better health after each fast. The purpose of this paper is to reintroduce a fast that has the value exceeding the original.
            By taking from the traditions of Asian cuisine, Muslim fasting during Ramadan, work as a group therapist, and ancient food science, I developed two fasting methods that proved to benefit my personal focus, feeling of self, and stamina in a way that helped to transform my life over time.
During Ramadan you typically limit your fluids and eat one meal a day after dusk. While work as a residential counselor, I learned in detail how foods and dietary supplements affect the mind. We limited sugars, caffeine sources, and certain types of foods that contained these items. I will save you the agony of my personal process of discovery and just give you the prescription for the initial fast. Let me know how it affects you.

PART I SEVEN DAYS ONLY
ELIMINATE
NO CAFFEINE (NO COFFEE, NO TEA EXCEPT GREEN AND BLACK TEA)
NO TOBACCO (INCLUDES BLUNT WRAPS AND CHEW)
NO TABLE SUGAR (INCLUDE ARTIFICIAL SUGARS IN MOST SODAS AND JUICES. NATURAL HONEY ONLY)
NO RED MEAT (PORK, LAMB OR BEEF, ETC)
ADD
ADD FRUIT AS A MEAL TO REPLACE MEAT AND SUGARY FOODS
EAT OR CONSUME ONE GARLIC CLOVE ALONE. I PREFER AFTER FRUIT OR CEREAL WITH HONEY AND MILK. (NO GARLIC PILLS IN THIS CONCOCTION)
TAKE ONE VITAMIN C MINIMUM 1000 IU/ ROSE-HIPS IN AM AND BEFORE BED
REPEAT THIS REGIMENT AFTER DINNER
GARLIC: IF YOU WOULD PREFER NOT TO HAVE YOUR BREATH SMELLING LIKE YOU JUST ATE A CLOVE OF GARLIC, I WOULD SIMPLY SLICE THEM AND TAKE THEM LIKE A PILL WITH A DRINK OF WATER
WEEK TWO             SEVEN MORE DAYS OF THE SAME
ADD GOALS
BECOME MORE VIGILANT ABOUT ELIMINATING ITEMS FROM WEEK ONE
BAKE AND BBQ MORE OFTEN
NO SODAS, FRUIT DRINKS, PASTRIES, CAKE, DONUTS ETC.
NO TABLE SALT (USE NATURAL SEA AND ROCK SALT ONLY)
NO DEEP FRIED FOODS (OVEN BAKED IN LESS OIL OK)
ADD
