Protest sweeps across America as political, economic and social stresses wage on! What do the “occupy movements’’ really say about the state of the American dream? Are we too far down the path of moral, social and economical ruins to change course? Can we restore the luster of hope once so prevailing in our youth? The answers are paramount as we gage our way through unchartered territories of ethical turmoil. The occupiers are only a glimmer of last ditch desperation to attempt redress of the wrongs of our republic. It provides hope that someone is concerned and viscerally active to participate in demonstrations of courage despite the failed outcomes of vigilance and social unrest. These movements are not disorderly exercises in reality TV styled camping expeditions. They are not latent post 60’s and 70’s radical reenactments to relive golden years and fleeting visions of utopias. Though framed in the least of its depth of glory, occupy movements have and must spawn a new generation of activist. We must call them participants in the first step toward true democracy; though vain personage and sacrifice. Many predecessors have foolishly walked the tight ropes of protest into violence, bondage and death. It is the true human will to seek a spirit of balance which leads so many to un-heroic aftermaths rife with scorn and bitterness at the very conditions they fight. Your life is now tied to the change you seek. Be wise and worthy of the power now bestowed. Activist fights to win in a manner that will uplift the communities they serve. Anarchist fights to protest then lose if so narcissistic as to devalue process and the high expectations of their predecessors. Derail the path to ruins by sheer determination and participation in democracy and all its dullness and glimmer. Work to be done. Organize or be organized into chaos. Leaders and purpose to be given and assorted while everyone gets the task to speak so human emotions and values can become sustainable again.
